Asbestos Related Illnesses

The Main Asbestos Related Illnesses would include Asbestos Related Stomach cancer, Asbestosis Pleural Thickening and of course Asbestos Related Lung Cancer. Asbestos Cancer Mesothelioma is of course mesothelium cancer that begins in the Pleura or Peritoneum. The result of Mesothelioma is that the cells turn abnormal, divide and multiply out of control. The result is cancer on the lining of the lungs, abdomen, chest and other organs contained within them areas. They can further divide and damage tissue adjacent to the cancers and other body areas. Mesothelioma is thought to be the sole result of asbestos exposure.

Mesothelioma in the malignant form is no longer a rare cancer due to the onset of this latent disease in recent years. There is great difficulty for diagnosis and it is even harder to treat. Mesothelioma (malignant) is the most sever form of disease induced from asbestos exposure.

Mesothelial cell lines are specialized cells that line the chest, abdominal and heart cavities. In addition to this, these cells develop along the lining of organs resulting in a layer otherwise known as mesothelium. Asbestos cancer mesothelioma can be divided into three variations, being sarcomatoid, epithelial and mixed, with epithelial covering the majority of the three.

The Mesothelium produces a lubricating layer of fluid around the organs reducing the amount of friction during movement. For instance, this lubricant reduces the friction around the lungs during breaths. Pleura is otherwise known as mesothelium within the chest and for the abdomen, the peritoneum and pericardium for the heart.

Mesothelioma was first accustom as a tumor of organs etc in the 1700s. Never the less, it wasn't until years later (1960's) that it was discovered to be directly related to asbestos exposure. J.C. Wagner was the first to write a report linking asbestos to mesothelioma resulting in the term 'Asbestos Cancer Mesothelioma'. Since then, science has properly related Mesothelioma to asbestos exposure and found that this cancer will persist to spread until treated.

Around 75% of mesothelioma cases start in the chest region with about 10-20% occurring within the abdominal region. Mesothelioma around the heart and even the testicles is very rare in comparison to the other variations.Asbestos Related Stomach Cancer

The majority of people who have been diagnosed with Mesothelioma suffer from low breaths, chest pains, and other respiratory problems. The Chest pains are a result of nerve irritations within tissues and the low breaths is induced by fluid build up between pleura layers (pleural effusion) of the chest. This same fluid build up can also occur within the abdominal region which results in similar symptoms such as pain, swelling and weight loss. Other acute symptoms include coughs and tiredness.

Many people instinctively conjoin Mesothelioma with smoking, however, mesothelioma is almost entirely caused by mineral asbestos inhalation. Of the 2000 mesothelioma cases arising annually, over 70% is directly tied to asbestos minerals.Asbestos Related Lung Cancer

Mesothelioma cases are not a thing of the past. In fact, within the future, problems will only get worse. This is because the onset of disease is between 3-5 decades, meaning that many case will develop soon.
